Zaporozhye NPP's backup power supply resumes
SIMFEROPOL. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Specialists have restored power supply to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) through its 330-kilovolt Ferrosplavnaya-1 transmission line, the NPP's representatives said in a statement on Telegram on Monday.
"Efforts at Zaporozhye NPP to restore the communication line between the open distribution device of the nuclear and the thermal plant have been completed. The line was damaged as a result of a Ukrainian military attack, which led the plant to stop receiving power from the Ferrosplavnaya-1 transmission line," the statement said.
The attack was first reported on the evening of December 16. Repairs were conducted by specialists from the NPP and Rosseti in the presence of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors.
"The repairs became possible after relevant agreements had been reached to observe a ceasefire on the grounds of the plant. These agreements were prepared with the participation of the Defense Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Rosatom state corporation and the IAEA," the statement said.
The Zaporozhye NPP received electricity for its own needs from the right bank of the Dnieper River controlled by Ukraine through the main 750 kV Dneprovskaya power transmission line and the backup 330 kV Ferrosplavnaya-1 line. Both are now operational.
"The situation at the plant is under full control. Background radiation is normal and corresponds to natural levels," the statement said.
