Tajikistan intends to attract $15.7 bln in investments for priority projects in 2026-2030
DUSHANBE. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Tajikistan's government investment program envisages spending $15.7 billion in 2026-2030, the country's presidential press service reported following a government meeting chaired by Emomali Rahmon on Monday.
"The program includes 864 projects overall totaling $15.7 billion. Tajikistan possesses significant natural resources, including water, reserves of minerals and rare metals, a favorable climate and fertile lands, significant tourism and human potential, as well as good investment opportunities," Economic Development and Trade Minister Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda said at the meeting.
Abdurahmonzoda said that the program's main goal is to attract investment, including in the form of loans, grants, and technical assistance, in order to implement priority projects in various sectors of the economy.
"Attracting foreign investment particularly to implement priority projects was considered one of the main factors to develop the national economy further," according to the statement.
According to materials on the website of Tajikistan's Economic Development Ministry, the government investment program included 898 projects totaling $19.1 billion in 2021-2025, including 64 projects in the energy sector at over $7.8 billion, 103 projects in transport at $4.5 billion, 135 in agriculture and irrigation at around $2.5 billion, and 272 in water supply and sanitation at $1.2 billion.
