Moscow ready to relaunch Russian-Slovak intergovernmental commission - Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to relaunch its intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation with Slovakia, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a briefing on Thursday.
"For our part we unequivocally welcome Slovakia's readiness to develop trade and economic cooperation with Russia, particularly through the bilateral Russian-Slovak intergovernmental commission. Its work was interrupted after 2021. We are ready to restore interaction in this format," Zakharova said.
Moscow "assumes that restarting the commission's work could lend a new impetus to the potential for Russia-Slovak trade and economic cooperation and in future help increase our bilateral trade and broaden our investment and technological cooperation on an equitable, non-discriminatory and mutually beneficial basis," she said.
Russia is "awaiting the appointment of the Slovak co-chair of the commission," she said.
"As a reminder, ours is Science and Higher Education Minister Valery Falkov," Zakharova said.
