Ferrous metal exports via Russian Railways' network up 13% in 11M to 22.6 mln tonnes
MOSCOW. Dec 17 (Interfax) - The transportation of ferrous metals for export via the network of OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) increased 13% year-on-year in January-November 2025 and amounted to 22.6 million tonnes, the company said.
The largest part of this amount, 15.9 million tonnes (+11.8% YoY), was loaded in the direction of ports. In total, 10.4 million tonnes of ferrous metals were transported to the ports of the south (+15%), 3.7 million tonnes to the ports of the north-west (+13.8%) and 1.8 million tonnes to the ports of the Far East (-9.2%).
A total of 6.7 million tonnes of ferrous metals were transported for export via border crossings (+14.5%).
According to RZD data, the largest amounts of ferrous metals loaded for export in the reporting period were recorded in the Lipetsk region (7.8 million tonnes, +12.4%), in the Chelyabinsk region (3.3 million tonnes, +45.3%) and in the Sverdlovsk region (2.5 million tonnes, +27.7%).
