Nordgold begins acquiring copper projects in Magadan Region

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Nordgold has begun acquiring Artyom Chaika's copper projects in the Magadan Region.

The Unified State Registry of Legal Entities (USRLE) reports that Nordgold Development has become the 100% owner of Aeris LLC, the holder of exploration licenses for the Itkilan and Khmityevsky copper fields in the Magadan Region.

Nordgold Development previously received controlling stakes in several companies in which Chaika is a majority or minority shareholder as collateral. In addition to Aeris LLC, these include Nedra M LLC, Halko LLC, and Palladium LLC. All are engaged in copper exploration in the Magadan Region.

Nordgold has declined to comment.

Magadan authorities have repeatedly expressed Nordgold's interest in the region, and Nordgold and the Magadan regional government signed a cooperation agreement at the Eastern Economic Forum 2025. However, the company's projects in Kolyma have not yet been officially announced.

Nordgold is among Russia's top 10 goldminers. The group also combines assets in Kazakhstan, Guinea, and Burkina Faso.
