CBR to file lawsuit in Moscow Arbitration Court to collect losses from Euroclear

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) plans to file a lawsuit against Euroclear in the Moscow Arbitration Court to seek compensation for the losses the Belgian depository has caused it, the CBR said in a press release.

The CBR said it made this decision "due to the illegal actions of Euroclear," and the mechanisms being officially considered by the European Commission to directly or indirectly use the Bank of Russia's assets without its consent.

"The Euroclear depository's actions inflicted harm on the Bank of Russia due to the inability to have at its disposal money and securities that belong to the Bank of Russia," the CBR said.
