EAEU should form list of new Asian, African partners - Belarusian PM
MINSK. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should focus on advancing on its external contour and form a list of new partners, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin said.
"Currently the EAEU is facing the task of forming a list of new partners. I think this work should emphasize the friendly Asian and African countries whose markets are of interest to producers in our countries," Turchin said during a Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Moscow on Thursday, broadcast on the Rossiya-24 television channel.
In 2025, the EAEU signed economic partnership agreements with the United Arab Emirates, an interim trade agreement with Mongolia and its full-fledged Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Iran came into force in May, he said.
"Very soon we are to sign one more FTA, with Indonesia. Three states - Myanmar, Nicaragua and Venezuela - have applied to receive EAEU observer status," Turchin said.
Belarus' EAEU presidency is ending and will be taken over by Kazakhstan in 2026.
