Kyrgyzstan interested in importing petroleum products from Azerbaijan, operation of ferries in Caspian Sea

BAKU. Dec 11 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobayev as part of a working visit to Azerbaijan has held negotiations on increasing trade turnover between the two countries and importing petroleum products, the Kyrgyz government said.

"The deputy head of the cabinet, Bakyt Torobayev, held a meeting with the vice president of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic [SOCAR] Anar Mamedov. During the conversation, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in supplying petroleum products to Kyrgyzstan, as well as exchanging experience in improving energy efficiency, digitalizing production processes and adhering to high environmental standards," the government said.

At the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, the Kyrgyz delegation acquainted itself with the progress of large-scale projects to modernize production, deepen oil refining and implement modern technologies.

Torobayev also held a meeting with the board chairman of OJSC Baku Shipyard, Ruslan Talybov. During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation in operating ferries in the Caspian Sea for servicing freight lines and ensuring more sustainable logistics for Kyrgyz exports and imports were discussed, the government said.

According to assessments by the Kyrgyz side, the development of such cooperation will contribute to diversifying Kyrgyzstan's transport routes, reducing delivery times and increasing the competitiveness of businesses in external markets.
