Eurasian Development Bank expanding presence in UAE, creating platform for investment in Central Asian projects

MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is creating an investment platform to provide investors from the Persian Gulf countries with access to promising projects in Central Asia, the EDB said.

Therefore, the EDB has opened a representative office in the Abu Dhabi International Financial Center (ADGM), a free economic zone in the United Arab Emirates.

"We are creating an investment highway between Gulf capital and the opportunities of Central Asia. The new EDB office in Abu Dhabi will bolster our role as a bridge between the regions, as we combine regional expertise with specific financial instruments. Investors gain access to proven projects with an optimal risk-return balance, while Central Asian countries gain access to new sources to finance development," EDB Governor Nikolai Podguzov said.

As part of the development, there are plans to launch a specialized credit fund registered in the ADGM jurisdiction and focused on debt financing of EDB infrastructure projects.
