Germany boosts exports to Russia 4.8%, cuts imports 10.6% in October

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Germany boosted exports to Russia 4.8% month-on-month to 592.6 million euros in October, according to data from the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis.

Germany cut imports from Russia 10.6% month-on-month to 89.2 million euros in October.

October exports dipped 0.3% year-on-year to Russia, and imports plunged 34.7% year-on-year.

Exports to Russia declined 7.7% year-on-year in January-October, and imports fell 34.2% year-on-year in the period.

Germany increased overall exports 0.1% month-on-month to 131.3 billion euros, as adjusted for calendar and seasonal factors, the highest level in the past six months.

Imports declined 1.2% to 114.5 billion euros.

Analysts surveyed by Trading Economics had forecast a decline of 0.2% in exports and growth of 0.2% in imports.

German exports to the European Union increased 2.7% month-on-month in October, while shipments to non-EU countries decreased 3.3%. Exports fell 7.8% to the United States, 5.8% to China, and 6.5% to the UK.

Imports from EU countries rose 2.8% month-on-month, while imports from non-EU countries declined 5.4%. Shipments decreased 5.2% from China, 16.6% from the U.S., and 14.5% from the UK.

Germany's foreign trade surplus rose to 16.9 billion euros in October from 15.3 billion euros in September, with analysts having forecast 15.2 billion euros for the period.
