Decree on terms of payment for Russian gas supplies extended until April 1, 2026

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - The decree on payment terms for Russian gas has been extended for another quarter, until April 1, 2026.

This is referred to the Russian presidential decree dated March 1, 2022 on the special procedure for the fulfillment by foreign buyers of obligations to Russian natural gas suppliers. Initially, the procedure implied payment for Russian gas only with the participation of Gazprombank .

In late 2024, the "authorized bank" (Gazprombank) in the decree was replaced by the "Russian credit institution" (that is, any Russian bank). Payment acceptance in this way was allowed for the period until the end of Q1 2025, then it was extended several times.

Gazprombank earlier said in a statement that in this way, gas buyers were given "a delay in order to obtain the required licenses within this period or to lift restrictions on working with an authorized bank, Gazprombank."
