Armenian parliament approves 2026 budget with deficit of 4.5% of GDP

YEREVAN. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Armenia's National Assembly approved the country's 2026 budget at a session on Thursday.

Budget revenues are projected at 3.91 trillion drams, up 8.9% year-on-year, and expenditures are forecast at 3.628 trillion drams, up 5.4% year-on-year.

The deficit is projected at 536 billion drams, or 4.5% of GDP, compared to 5.5% this year. There are plans to trim the deficit to 2.8% of GDP in the medium term.

GDP is expected to grow 5.4% to 11.933 trillion drams next year.

The government projects debt/GDP ratio is expected to be 52.9% at around $16.5 billion by the end of 2026.

There were 62 deputies that voted in favor of the budget, 27 that voted against it, and three abstained.

The official exchange rate as on December 4, 2025, is 381.14 drams/$1.
