Rosatom's renewable energy project portfolio already at full capacity, no resources for new projects yet - senior manager
MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Rosatom's portfolio of renewable energy projects is already at the limit of its capabilities, and there are no resources for new projects, Grigory Nazarov, CEO of JSC Rosatom Renewable Energy, said at the Renewable Energy in Russia conference.
"The portfolio that we have now built at Rosatom is already at the limit of the capabilities we had at the start," Nazarov said at the forum organized by the Renewable Energy Development Association.
Nazarov also said that the projects are currently being implemented using the company's in-house resources.
"We cannot say that we have any resources to launch new projects in the next five years, especially if the [Central Bank] rate remains at its current level for another two to three years. This is a serious challenge. The Energy Ministry understands and supports us on the issue, though there are no clear solutions in sight at this time," Nazarov said.
Rosatom Renewable Energy, formerly NovaWind, was established in 2017 to consolidate the wind energy assets of the Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation. The company's project portfolio in Russia exceeds 2 GW, including 1 GW of projects already commissioned.
At a competition held in August 2025 to construct renewable energy generation in Russia's Far East, two projects from Rosatom's JSC VetroSPK were selected in the Amur Region at capacity of 89.84 MW and 140 MW and scheduled for commissioning in 2027 and 2028, respectively, as well as another project in the Khabarovsk Territory at capacity of 139.86 MW and scheduled for commissioning in 2028.
