Chinese citizens can travel to Russia visa-free for 30 days until Sept 14, 2026 - order

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order establishing a temporary procedure for the arrival and departure of Chinese citizens in Russia.

The order was published on the website of legal information.

"Chinese citizens have the right to arrive and stay in Russia for no more than 30 days through September 14, 2026, as guests, business travelers, tourists or participants in scientific, cultural, sociopolitical, economic and sport events, as well as transit through Russia, and depart from Russia without a visa, using a regular Chinese passport," the order said.

The regulations are based "on the principle of reciprocity," it said.

However, the procedure for arriving in and departing from Russia, endorsed by the order, does not apply to Chinese citizens visiting Russia for work, including as journalists, for education, for residence in Russia, or for conducting international motor transportation or accompanying such vehicles as translators.

The order dated December 1 took effect on the signing date.
