Russian Energy Ministry proposes extending support measures for coal industry for another six months
MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The Energy Ministry proposes extending the previously adopted support measures for the coal industry for another six months, until May 31, 2026, inclusive, the acting head of the department's coal industry department, Dmitry Lopatin, said at a meeting of the State Council commission on energy.
The corresponding draft government resolution has been developed and sent for coordination to the Labor Ministry and the Finance Ministry, Lopatin said.
A government subcommission has already reviewed materials from ten companies (totaling 43 enterprises) for the provision of individual support measures, he said. Materials from another 19 companies (36 enterprises) are queued for review, while around five more companies (eight enterprises) plan to submit materials in the near future.
In May-November 2025, coal companies received tax payment deferrals amounting to around 45 billion rubles, which provides an opportunity to save up to 3 billion rubles on interest payments, Lopatin said, citing data.
