Lithuania reopens border with Belarus in early hours of Thurs

MINSK. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Border checkpoints on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border resumed operation in the early hours of November 20, the press service of the Belarusian State Border Committee said in a statement.

"Movement through the Benyakoni and Kamenny Log checkpoints on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border has resumed," the statement said.

As reported, the Lithuanian side began to let vehicles through the adjacent Salcininkai and Medininkai checkpoints at 1:00 a.m. Minsk time.

On Wednesday evening, the Belarusian State Border Committee received official notification of the border reopening from the Lithuanian Interior Ministry's State Border Guard Service. The Belarusian Border Service also announced its readiness to resume allowing people and vehicles through the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.
