Ukrainian PM, EBRD president discuss financing of gas purchases, U.S. starts LNG supply via Lithuania

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Odile Renaud-Basso have discussed financing of gas purchases at a meeting in Kiev, Ukrainian media said.

"At the meeting, we concentrated on the provision of necessary funds for gas purchases and operations through the heating season," the media quoted Sviridenko as saying on a social network.

In that context, Ukrainian media cited a statement by the U.S. embassy in Kiev, which said the United States had started to supply liquefied natural gas to Ukraine.

A Ukrainian LNG shipment has arrived at the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, some of it will be processed and sent to Ukraine, the media cited the embassy statement on a social network.

As reported, this is the first natural gas shipment to Ukraine via Lithuania.
