Kazakhstan ships wheat to Armenia via Azerbaijan for first time in 30 years
ASTANA. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has shipped its first batch of food wheat to Armenia in transit through Azerbaijan for 30 years, the Food Corporation press service told Interfax.
A train consisting of 15 railcars carrying 1,000 tonnes of Kazakh wheat departed from the Kostanay region and has already crossed into Azerbaijan. The cargo is expected to arrive at the Dalarik station in Armenia early next week, the press service said.
The resumption of shipments along this route became possible after all transit restrictions for cargo bound for Yerevan were lifted, following talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in late October in Astana.
