Lukashenko offers Ukrainians to move to Belarus
MINSK. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said Belarus is ready to take in more Ukrainian immigrants.
"We stay open. Ukrainians, please come here. We will gladly take you in. We will provide the same life for your families, your children as Belarusians have in terms of education and healthcare," Lukashenko said during a working trip to regions on Thursday.
"We are ready to take them in. To us, Ukrainians are good. These are very hard working people who understand us and speak the same language. However, trouble came to our neighbor's house. I think we will sort out this problem," Lukashenko said.
According to the Belarusian State Border Committee, 97,805 Ukrainian citizens have arrived in Belarus this year. These include 58 who crossed the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, 76,684 who travelled via Poland, 19,098 via Lithuania, and 1,965 via Latvia.
More than 320,000 Ukrainian citizens have come to Belarus since February 24, 2022.
