Russian R-Pharm intends to invest $200 mln in production of pharmaceuticals in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. Nov 1 (Interfax) - R-Pharm Group plans to build a pharmaceutical production plant in the city of Alatau in Kazakhstan in partnership with Khan Tengri Biopharma, the Kazakh prime minister's press service said.

"An international company with investment of $200 million will build an innovative full-cycle biopharmaceutical hub. The project will be implemented in the new promising city of Alatau, a land plot for which has already been allocated," Nikolai Zemskov, general director of R-Pharm for Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, said at the 2025 Kazakhstan Global Investment Roundtable (KGIR 2025) held in Astana.

According to the project, an investment agreement with the Kazakh government should be concluded and it will be implemented within three years, he said. The products will be supplied not only to Kazakhstan's domestic market but also for export.

R-Pharm is a Russian pharmaceutical group of companies, founded in 2001. According to its website, the company has nine production sites that specialize in producing pharmaceuticals, active pharmaceutical ingredients, laboratory equipment and medical systems. The group's portfolio includes more than 20 high-tech products.
