Russia's Tatneft registers project to generate solar power in Uzbekistan on Indian registry platform

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Tatneft has registered a project to generate solar power in Uzbekistan on India's Universal Carbon Registry platform, the Russian oil company posted on its Telegram channel.

"We have installed solar power plants with overall capacity of 0.33 MW on the roofs of a tire manufacturing plant in Uzbekistan. Clean solar energy is now used for production needs, replacing carbon-intensive electricity from the regional grid," the company said.

The projected annual reduction in greenhouse gas emission is approximately 206 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

Tatneft has already registered 40 climate projects in the Russian carbon unit registry.

Birinchi Rezinotexnika Zavodi is located in Angren, Uzbekistan; Bars brand; 3 million passenger car tires, 100,000 linear meters of conveyor belts. Tatneft's tire division also includes the Ikon Tyres plant in Vsevolozhsk with annual capacity of 17 million passenger car tires, and the Tengri Tyres plant in Saran, Kazakhstan; the Attar brand; 3 million passenger car tires, 500,000 truck tires.
