Tajikistan concerned about inclusion of several of its banks in EU sanctions list - Foreign Ministry

DUSHANBE. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Tajikistan abides by its international commitments and is ready to interact with its partners in order to jointly prevent risks related to the possible circumvention of sanctions, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said, commenting on the inclusion of a number of Tajik banks in the European Union's sanctions list.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan is deeply concerned and expresses regret over the inclusion of certain Tajikistan banks on this sanctions list," the ministry said in a statement.

"The government of the Republic of Tajikistan is thoroughly studying and monitoring the situation and is taking necessary measures to minimize the negative consequences that these sanctions may entail," the statement said.

In October, the EU imposed sanctions on three Tajik banks, namely, Dushanbe City Bank, Commerce Bank, and Spitamen.
