Days of Russian culture to be held in UAE
MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Days of Russian culture in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, the events will take place on November 3, the Russian Culture Ministry press service said.
"Culture days are the continuation of a series of joint cultural actions of Russia and the UAE: a capsule exhibit called Mother of the Nation opened in the New Tretyakov Gallery in April, and Days of Children's Books of Russia were successfully held in Dubai in May. A unique concert program composed of Russian music of the 19th and the 20th centuries performed by the Russian National Orchestra was prepared specially for the Days of Russian Culture in the UAE," the press service said.
The evening performance in the Abu Dhabi National Theater will open with two works by Sergei Prokofiev: Symphony No. 1 in D major and the Violin Concerto No. 2. In the central part of the evening performance will be a scene from Tatyana's letter and Lensky's aria from the opera Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, as well as fragments of his music for the ballet The Nutcracker: an overture, the March and the Waltz of the Flowers. The concert will end with a famous overture from the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila by Mikhail Glinka. The concert will be conducted by Russian conductor Dmitry Yurovsky.
The Russian National Museum of Music, in collaboration with the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music, prepared for guests of the evening performance a special exhibit called Mikhail Glinka. Music Travels, where the composer's manuscripts and programs, lithographic portraits of musicians close to him will be displayed. The exhibit will have a multimedia section: each visitor will be able to listen to recordings of fragments of operas, romances and instrumental work by Mikhail Glinka.
