Russia to act according to situation if anyone breaches nuclear test moratorium - Peskov
MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Russia will act according to the situation if anyone breaches the nuclear test moratorium, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Let me remind you of what President Putin has said on multiple occasions: of course, Russia will act according to the situation if anyone deviates from the moratorium," Peskov told the press on Thursday.
Reporters asked Peskov to comment on U.S. President Donald Trump's statement about the resumption of nuclear tests by the United States.
Peskov said "no" to a question whether the United States had informed Russia about the planned resumption of nuclear tests in any way.
He thus commented on Trump's statement about other states doing nuclear tests.
"We have had no information to date about anyone conducting trials. If this refers to the Burevestnik trials in any way, this is absolutely not a nuclear test. All states develop their defensive systems, but this is not a nuclear test," Peskov said.
The United States is "a sovereign country entitled to make a sovereign decision," he added.
