Chinese companies to build solar power plant in southern Kyrgyzstan
BISHKEK. Oct 29 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz Energy Ministry has signed an investment agreement with two Chinese companies, States Technology Co. and San Energy Co., for constructing a 250 MW solar power plant in the country's Batken region, the ministry's press service said on Wednesday.
States Technology will be the investor of the project, and San Energy will be the contractor.
The solar power plant will be located on an area of 669.3 hectares in the village of Ak-Turpak. The start of construction is planned for 2025, and commissioning for 2027.
"The implementation of this project will provide electricity to the residents of the Ak-Turpak rural district. After the plant is commissioned, the generated electricity will be purchased by JSC National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan (NEGK)," the press service said.
The cost of the project was not specified.
In addition, a memorandum of cooperation has been signed with the Chinese company Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), which stipulates conducting research and devising prospective plans for developing the energy system free of charge, training energy managers and engineering specialists, and exploring the possibilities for building floating solar power plants on the Toktogul reservoir, the press service said.
The documents were signed as part of an international forum held in the city of Suzhou, China.
