Freight transportation via railway border crossings with China in Far East fall 2.3% in 9M - Russian Railways

VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Freight transportation via border crossings with China in the Far East in January-September 2025 decreased 2.3% year-on-year to 13.7 million tonnes, the press service of the Far Eastern Railway (a branch of OJSC Russian Railways) said.

Via the Nizhneleninskoye (Jewish Autonomous Region) - Tongjiang (China) border crossing, 6.6 million tonnes of cargo were transported in 9M 2025, up 10.2% YoY. This includes 3.1 million tonnes of coal exported (+12.8%) and 1.6 million tonnes of ore (up 1.3-fold).

Freight transportation via the Grodekovo (Primorye Territory) - Suifenhe (China) border crossing increased 1.1% to 6.5 million tonnes. Of these, 3.3 million tonnes of coal were exported to China (+14.2%) and 1.4 million tonnes of ore (up 1.7-fold).

Transportation is also carried out in the Far Eastern Railway zone via the Kamyshovaya (Primorye Territory) - Hunchun (China) border crossing. The Far Eastern Railway did not provide data for this direction.

The Far Eastern Railway runs through the territory of six constituent entities of the Russian Federation - Primorye and Khabarovsk Territories, the Amur and Sakhalin regions, the Jewish Autonomous Region and Yakutia.
