Yandex plans to produce 20,000 delivery robots by 2028
MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Yandex intends to expand its fleet of delivery robots by producing 20,000 new-generation robots by the end of 2027, the company reported.
By scaling up in this way, Yandex services and partner companies will be able to solve the problem of insufficient numbers of couriers. It is expected that one in 10 couriers will have been replaced by robots within two years.
The development of new-generation delivery robots will allow for mass production.
"They are much simpler to produce and have a lower production cost than the other generations. The new robots are also superior to their predecessors in how they function," the statement reads.
The new-generation robots are already scheduled to begin work in November 2025. Within the first two years, they will begin deliveries in St. Petersburg, Kazan and other Russian cities, and their use in Moscow will also be expanded.
