Budapest won't cease purchasing nuclear power plant fuel from Russia - foreign ministry

ROME. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Hungary is not planning to cease purchasing nuclear power plant fuel from Russia, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday.

"Hungary will start talks with the United States about purchasing nuclear power plant fuel to diversify supplies, but also will not stop purchasing it from Russia," the RTRS television channel of Republika Srpska quoted Szijjarto as saying.

Hungary needs more of such fuel in order to meet the growing energy demands of its nuclear power plant, which is currently being expanded, he said.
