Russian-U.S. summit date yet to be determined - Peskov
MOSCOW. Oct 22 (Interfax) - The date of a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to be determined, and there is no news about it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"The date has not been determined. This has yet to be done. That would require thorough preparations. That would also take time. No news," Peskov told the press when asked if preparations for the summit had been paused.
"Obviously, all of it is surrounded by a lot of gossip, rumors, and so on. Much of it is completely untrue. There's no news yet," he said.
Reporters also asked whether any aspects could complicate preparations for the summit.
"There is nothing new to say," Peskov said.
Peskov said that Putin Trump are used to working with high efficiency, but this meeting requires preparation.
"No one wants to waste time - neither President Trump nor President Putin. These two presidents are used to working efficiently with high productivity. But efficiency always requires preparation," Peskov said when asked by journalists to comment on Trump's remarks that he does not want the Budapest summit to be a waste of time.
When asked who, Putin or Trump, came up with the summit idea, Peskov said that "it was a shared desire."
"A shared desire that, indeed, the pause that has emerged requires involvement at the top level, but this involvement should be well prepared," he said.
