Rubio tells Lavrov about importance of upcoming contacts on Ukraine settlement - U.S. State Dept

WASHINGTON. Oct 20 (Interfax) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov have discussed upcoming contacts between Moscow and Washington to resolve the Ukraine conflict, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement.

"The Secretary emphasized the importance of upcoming engagements," the statement said. This is an opportunity for Moscow and Washington to cooperate in order to promote a sustainable solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict "in line with [U.S.] President [Donald] Trump's vision," he said.

As noted, the two ministers discussed the next steps following the phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place on October 16.
