Ukraine's industrial production down by 2.5% in 8 months - State Statistics Service

MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Industrial production in Ukraine grew by 0.5% in August 2025 year-on-year after the growth by 3.2% in July and 2.9% in June and the decline by 1.6% in May and 6.4% in April and March, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to the State Statistics Service.

Overall, industrial production in Ukraine declined by 2.5% in eight months of 2025 compared to the same period of 2024, in particular, in the mining industry and the quarry development by 10.2%, the food industry by 6.2%, and the production of coke and refined oil products by 5.5%, the State Statistics Service said.

There was a year-on-year increase in industrial production by 33.6% in production of computers, electronic and optical products, by 28.6% in pharmaceuticals, by 10.7% in production of rubber and plastic products, by 8.7% in the metal industry and manufacture of metal products, by 4.6% in woodworking, by 4.2% in electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air supplies, by 3.3% in production of electrical equipment, by 2.6% in production of textiles, and by 1.9% in the processing industry.

At the same time, a decline by 4.1% was observed in the in the mining industry and the quarry development, in particular, in the extraction of bituminous and ignite coal by 24.7%, metal ore by 5.4%, and the extraction of crude oil and natural gas by 0.7%.

A decline in industrial production was also recorded in production of machinery and equipment, down by 23%, production of chemicals (9.2%), machine-building (2.9%), production of textiles (7.1%), production of furniture (2%), and the food industry (1.7%).

Industrial production declined by 3.3% in August 2025 compared to July 2025, the State Statistics Service said.

As reported, industrial production in Ukraine increased by 4.6% in 2024.
