Ukraine's Naftogaz calls for saving gas
MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Gas consumption in Ukraine is now much higher than it was in the same periods of last year, due to its use for heating, resource savings remain extremely relevant, Ukrainian media reported, citing Naftogaz of Ukraine Supervisory Board member Natalya Boiko.
"We have to put up with the fact that the fall and winter season will be difficult, and if we consume something today, we may not have it in February," Boiko said at a thematic session of the Kiev International Economic Forum on Thursday.
"I urge you to save resources as much as possible. Consumption is growing. We are consuming much more now than we did last year in the same period," she added.
The consumption increased around 20% from Monday to Thursday alone, she said.
At the same time, Boiko said that Naftogaz's priority is to rebuild damaged infrastructure, as well as additional amounts of imports.
Boiko did not confirm or deny the media reports about Ukraine's loss of 60% of daily production in early October, refraining from answering the relevant question.
