CPC transports slightly more than 54 mln tonnes of oil in 9M, expects to pump around 72 mln tonnes this year
MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) transported slightly more than 54 million tonnes of oil in January-September 2025, the head of the CPC, Nikolai Gorban, told reporters on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week.
"Around 54 million tonnes we have there, slightly more [for 9M]. But as of this morning, it's already 59 million tonnes. We expect that the minimum will be 72 million plus by the end of the year," he said.
The consortium transported 48.48 million tonnes in 9M 2024.
The CPC connects oil fields in western Kazakhstan and Russian fields on the Caspian shelf with a marine terminal in Novorossiysk. The route length is 1,511 km. The system is the main export route for Kazakh oil, accounting for more than 80% of the volumes pumped through the pipeline from Kazakhstan. The CPC is capable of transporting approximately 72.5 million tonnes of oil per year from Kazakh territory and up to 83 million tonnes of oil per year through Russia. The consortium shipped 63.01 million tonnes of oil through the system in 2024. The expected level of transportation in 2025 is around 74 million tonnes.
The CPC's shareholders are the Russian Federation with 31%, with Transneft managing 24% and 7% on the balance sheet; Kazakhstan with 20.75%, as represented by KazMunayGas with 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC with 1.75%; Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company with 15%; Lukoil International GmbH with 12.5%; Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company with 7.5%; Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited with 7.5%; BG Overseas Holding Limited with 2%; Eni International N.A. N.V. with 2%; and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC with 1.75%.
