Russian first deputy PM proposes extending national regime to procurement in oilfield services sector, introducing quotas for purchasing Russian equipment for exploration, drilling

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Equipment for oilfield services work should be included in the list of goods subject to the national procurement regime (which gives preferences to Russian suppliers), First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said when opening a meeting of the coordination council on import substitution of oil and gas equipment as part of Russian Energy Week.

He also proposed introducing quotas for the use of Russian-made equipment in exploration and drilling (geological exploration work).

Expanding demand for domestic solutions in the fuel and energy sector will be the subject of discussion at the coordination council meeting on Thursday, Manturov said.

"In this context, it is important to extend the national regime to equipment for oilfield services work. And also to quota the use of Russian products by subsoil users for exploration and drilling," he said.

He recalled that the New Nuclear and Energy Technologies national project envisages achieving a 90% level of technological sovereignty in the oil and gas industry by 2030.
