Top-level Russian-U.S. contacts currently not planned - Lavrov
MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Moscow and Washington are conducting dialogue via different channels and on various issues on a working level, contacts between the two countries' presidents are currently not planned, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Working contacts are going via various channels and on various issues," Lavrov said in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant.
"Top-level contacts are currently not planned," the minister said.
"U.S. President Trump has recently said, among other things, while leaving Egypt, commenting on journalists' question about Tomahawk cruise missiles, that he would probably need to talk with Russian President Putin on the matter," Lavrov said.
He and his team know that we are ready to discuss specific issues on various levels, including presidential, at any moment. Of course, bearing in mind all work done in the previous period, including the Russian-U.S. summit in Alaska," Lavrov said.
