Hungary begins discussing possible partnership with Novatek - Szijjarto
MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Hungary has begun to discuss the possibility of a partnership with Novatek, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto told journalists at the sidelines of Russian Energy Week.
"We don't have any kind of partnership right now, but we are discussing it. This was our first meeting. I was invited and I came, of course, and we looked at possible cooperation scenarios," he said.
Hungary has a pipeline gas supply contract with Gazprom , which is effective until 2036.
Recently, it has also signed contracts with several European countries on the supply of small volumes of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Szijjarto said that Hungary's LNG infrastructure was poor and that it was not planning any construction projects for the near future. Therefore, the country's gas supply primarily comes from pipelines.
