Putin: We stay within framework of agreements reached at U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska
DUSHANBE. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Russia remains in the framework of the agreements reached on Ukraine at the Alaska summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"It is a complicated issue that needs to be worked on further. But we stay at the base of the discussion that took place in Anchorage. We don't change anything for ourselves, we suppose that both sides still have something to work on. But overall, we remain in the framework of the Alaska agreements," Putin told a press conference at the end of his state visit to Tajikistan on Friday.
There was no full disclosure of the course of the meeting and his discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump, he said.
"We did not fully disclose what we talked about in Anchorage. We just talked about how we generally have the U.S. understanding and the Russian understanding of where to go and what we should be aiming for in order to end this conflict [in Ukraine], and do so by peaceful means," Putin said.
Those are not easy issues, he said. "We agreed with Donald that back in Moscow I also need to think, speak with our colleagues, with allies too, discuss the issue, and he said the same to me. It is a complicated issue that needs to be additionally worked on," Putin said.
