Russia, Kenya discussing launch of direct air travel - Kenyan ambassador to Russia

ZHELEZNOVODSK. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Kenya is interested in launching direct air travel with Russia, and the countries' governments are discussing this, the Kenyan ambassador to Russia Peter Mutuku Mathuki said.

"The Kenyan and Russian governments are currently discussing this issue as part of solving problems of economic development, which also includes the issue of direct flights to Kenya. We are interested in resolving it," Mathuki told journalists on the sidelines of the international forum "North Caucasus: Cultural Code in the Development of International Cooperation" in Zheleznovodsk on Friday.

The launch of direct air travel between the countries will increase the flow of tourists to Kenya, he said.

Kenya plans to host a Russian business delegation to discuss potential projects in various sectors of the economy, including tourism, he said.

"Kenya is interested in bringing a business delegation. It is expected to happen this year. Kenya is an outstanding tourist destination, so we will talk about business, tourism and culture," he said.

The international forum "North Caucasus: Cultural Code in the Development of International Cooperation" is taking place in Zheleznovodsk (Stavropol Territory) on October 10 and 11. The heads of diplomatic missions from countries in Africa and the Middle East are among the participants of the event.
