Uzbekistan intends to gain access to Amazon Kuiper satellite internet
TASHKENT. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan expects to gain access to the satellite internet service of U.S. Amazon Kuiper, the press service of the Digital Technologies Ministry said.
Uzbek Digital Technologies Minister Sherzod Shermatov discussed prospects for collaborating in digital infrastructure and broadband internet development with company representatives in Tashkent. The respective parties of the ministry and Amazon Kuiper Commercial Services LLC signed a memorandum of understanding following the meeting.
The memorandum envisages collaborating to upgrade the telecommunications infrastructure and expand access to high-speed internet in Uzbekistan using the Project Kuiper satellite network.
U.S. tech giant Amazon.com Inc. is developing the Kuiper satellite project, whose goal is to provide global broadband internet via a system of low-orbit satellites (LEO).
