Rosatom open to cooperation with Tajikistan, including on small reactors - Putin
MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Rosatom is open to cooperation with Tajikistan, including on small modular reactors, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after Russian-Tajik negotiations.
"We see prospects for a partnership in peaceful uses of atomic energy. The Rosatom state corporation is open to cooperation and possesses unique competences, which has no analogues in the world. This includes building small modular reactors," Putin said in Dushanbe on Thursday.
A joint statement by the presidents of Russia and Tajikistan, published after the negotiations, says the sides are ready to establish mutually advantageous cooperation in peaceful uses of atomic energy. Russia and Tajikistan also called effective and socially significant the ongoing reclamation of lands in Tajikistan affected by uranium mining.
During Putin's visit to Tajikistan, Rosatom and the Tajik Industry and New Technologies Ministry signed a roadmap for pre-project radiation surveys and assessments of the Digmai tailings storage facility and the drafting of a feasibility study on its reclamation.
