Federal Air Transport Agency expects over 300 airplanes, 200 helicopters to retire by 2030

MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The Federal Air Transport Agency expects over 300 airplanes and 200 helicopters to retire by 2030 in the pessimistic scenario, agency head Dmitry Yadrov said at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.

"According to the pessimistic forecast, we, together with airlines, expect 339 airplanes to retire by 2030: 230 domestic planes, including some which are 40, 50 and 60 years old, and 109 foreign aircraft [...] Apart from that, we plan to retire 200 helicopters: 190 domestic and 10 foreign," he said.

Yadrov said that the 76 airlines operating 99% of all flights now had a collective fleet of 1135 aircraft, of which 1088 are actually in use.
