Russian banks up precious metal reserves by 0.6 tonnes in Aug
MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Precious metal reserves in Russian banks were estimated at 507billion rubles at the start of September 2025, the Central Bank of Russia reported.
This is equal to 57.6 tonnes of precious metals in gold equivalent based on book prices.
It can be concluded with some assumptions that precious metal reserves in banks in terms of gold grew by another 0.6 tonnes or 1% in August, based on the CBR's information.
Precious metal reserves in banks are a rather arbitrary indicator that are calculated on a specific date and do not reflect the movement of precious metals on other days. Nevertheless, these can serve as an illustration of the scale of gold reserves in banks and general trends in this segment.
