Russian govt approves extension of restrictions on importing, exporting goods in relation to unfriendly countries until end of 2027

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Temporary restrictions on importing and exporting certain types of goods, raw materials and equipment from Russia, which were introduced by a presidential decree in 2022 as special foreign economic measures in response to sanctions, have been extended until the end of 2027.

The corresponding resolution has been approved by the government, the cabinet's press service said.

President Vladimir Putin previously signed a decree on extending special measures in the field of foreign trade until the end of 2027.

The restrictions also apply to exports of technological and medical equipment, agricultural machinery, electrical apparatus, turbines, nuclear reactors, fiber optic cables, aircraft, radar devices, firearms, batteries and metalworking machine tools, the government said.

The possibility of applying restrictions on imports of seeds of certain types of agricultural crops from unfriendly countries has also been extended until the end of 2027. In particular, this includes the seeds of potatoes, wheat, meslin, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower and sugar beet.

The same resolution extends until the end of 2027 the increased rates of import customs duties on certain types of meat and fish products, canned ready-made products from vegetables, fruits and nuts, confectionery and flour products, pasta, sauces, and on mineral water, beer, instant and roasted coffee, automotive spark plugs and a number of other goods.

The lists of goods and equipment subject to special economic measures were determined by the government in 2022 and 2023.

Decree no. 100 on the application of special economic measures in the field of foreign economic activity for the purpose of ensuring the security of the Russian Federation was adopted in March 2022 in response to sanctions from unfriendly countries, initially for a period of one year, then its validity was extended annually. The last expiration date was in December 2025.
