Caspian Pipeline Consortium ups oil transshipment 12% to 55.5 mln tonnes in 9M

MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) transshipped 55.51 million tonnes of oil in January-September 2025, up almost 12% compared to the same period last year, the CPC press service said, quoting Nikolai Gorban, the general director.

CPC shareholder representatives heard and discussed reports about the current pumping capacity of the consortium's trunk pipeline at a meeting of the governing bodies of JSC CPC-R and JSC CPC-K in Istanbul. "The program to replace gas turbine-driven mainline pumps with domestically produced electric motor-driven MPU was discussed in detail," it said.

CPC's adjusted budget for 2025 was approved during the meetings.

The 1,511 km CPC pipeline, which links oil fields in western Kazakhstan and Russian offshore fields in the Caspian Sea to a marine terminal in Novorossiysk, serves as the primary export route for Kazakh oil. It handles over 80% of Kazakhstan's pipeline crude exports. The pipeline has capacity to transport 72.5 million tonnes of crude from Kazakhstan and up to 83 million tonnes through Russia per year. The CPC pumped 63.01 million tonnes of oil through the system in 2024, with around 74 million tonnes anticipated in 2025.
