Belarus, Tajikistan sign contracts for over $16 million
MINSK. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Contracts amounting to over $16 million were signed during a meeting of the Belarusian-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Dushanbe, the Belarusian government's press service said in a statement on Friday.
"The Belarusian delegation is attending the 18th meeting of the Belarusian-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation underway in Dushanbe. During the commission's work, agricultural enterprises from Belarus have signed more than ten contracts worth over $16 million. Agreements and memorandums on cooperation have been signed, opening up new prospects for long-term deliveries of products," the statement said.
The sides also outlined areas where larger deliveries to each other's markets would meet the interests of both Belarus and Tajikistan, it said.
"Belarus stands ready to increase deliveries of food products, agricultural machinery and pedigree cattle. Belarusian producers also see deliveries of fresh and canned fruits and vegetables, nuts and fruit purees from Tajikistan as promising," the statement said.
"This cooperation is not about trade alone but also involves deep ties in science, education and production, including joint projects in crop farming and cattle breeding, exchanging experience in veterinary and selection, as well as specialists' training through the agricultural education system," it said.
"Bilateral trade between the countries in food products and agricultural raw materials in January-July 2025 stood at 152% of the level of the same period in 2024, with exports of Belarusian products growing to 154%," it said.
