Possible confiscation of immobilized Russian assets not to go unanswered - Kremlin

MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Russia will not let the confiscation of its assets immobilized in the West go unanswered, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Obviously, such steps will not go unanswered," Peskov told reporters as he commented on the U.S. call on G7 members to start confiscating immobilized Russian assets.

"Besides seriously undermining confidence in the Western financial system, of course, it will also be the subject of Russia's actions aimed at the legal defense of its legitimate rights to its property," Peskov said.

There are both supporters of the confiscation of Russian assets and those wishing to proceed with caution in the West, he said.
