Krasnodar Airport open for flight operations from Sept 11 - Transport Ministry

KRASNODAR. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Krasnodar International Airport is open for flight operations from September 11, the Transport Ministry said.

"Krasnodar Airport is open for flight operations from 09:00 Moscow time on September 11. An interdepartmental working group formed on the basis of the Federal Air Transport Agency has worked out the issues of ensuring the flight safety of civil aircraft to Krasnodar Airport," the ministry said.

The possibility of performing flights to the capital of Kuban was also confirmed by specialists of the state corporation for air traffic management subordinate to the agency.

Krasnodar Airport did not service aircraft from the end of February 2022 for security reasons. Throughout the whole period of temporary restrictions, the airport maintained a high level of readiness for resuming operations. The airport is fully staffed.

Both terminals, the airfield and special equipment are in full readiness. In the summer of 2024, an additional taxiway was repaired. Renovations were carried out on the airport's forecourt, and the front of the terminal buildings. Navigation within them was improved and the parking area was renovated.

The opening of Krasnodar Airport will not only increase opportunities for residents and businesses in the region but will also make vacations at resorts on the Azov and Black Seas more accessible, the Transport Ministry said.

In May 2024, Elista Airport in southern Russia also resumed operations, and Gelendzhik Airport did so in July 2025. According to data from early September, the former has serviced over 43,000 people this year, the latter - over 77,000 passengers.

The Federal Air Transport Agency said on its Telegram channel that, according to the issued notice (NOTAM), Krasnodar Airport is ready to receive and dispatch civil aircraft. Civil aircraft flights can be operated daily from 09:00 to 19:00 Moscow time, starting from September 11.

Flight intensity is no more than five take-off and landing operations per hour.

It is expected that the first regular flight to Krasnodar will be operated by Aeroflot from Moscow on September 17.

Krasnodar Airport, together with the airports of Anapa and Sochi, is part of Aerodynamics Group. Since February 2022, Krasnodar Airport has been closed for servicing flights for security reasons. Before the restrictions were introduced, it handled flights from Aeroflot, Pobeda, Rossiya, S7, UTair, Yakutia, Azimuth and other airlines. In 2021, the passenger traffic of Krasnodar Airport reached a record 5 million passengers, up 1.6-fold compared to 2020 and 7.7% compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019.
