Chinese company Sichuan Sunsync Photovoltaic Technology to set up solar panel production in Azerbaijan
BAKU. Sept 1 (Interfax) - The Chinese company Sichuan Sunsync Photovoltaic Technology Co will soon launch production of solar panels in Azerbaijan, according to a statement on the Azerbaijani president's website.
The enterprise will be created in the Alat free economic zone. "A significant portion of the products will be exported to global markets. The decision to invest in Azerbaijan was made taking into account strategic relations with China," the statement said.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the founder of the company, Xie Yi, discussed prospects for cooperation at a meeting on Sunday in Tianjin.
Aliyev also met with the chairman of China Communications Construction Company, Song Hailiang. The parties discussed the development of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor and the company's participation in the second phase of constructing the Baku International Sea Trade Port.
They also discussed improving transport infrastructure, including the construction of metro stations, production of equipment and the comprehensive development of urban transport. Conceptual proposals for cleaning and restoring lakes on the Absheron Peninsula will be presented, Song Hailiang said.
The parties exchanged views on large-scale projects being implemented to enhance Azerbaijan's transport and transit potential.
