Putin to thoroughly inform Xi about his Alaska talks with Trump - Ushakov
MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will thoroughly inform Chinese President Xi Jinping about his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska and other contacts with the United States, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said.
"Naturally, there will be many contacts, and both the [Russian] president and the [Chinese] president will spend a lot of time one on one. Naturally, the state and prospects of cooperation in various sectors will be discussed, and the leaders will address the most important global and regional issues. And, of course, they will discuss relations with the U.S.," Ushakov told reporters at a briefing in Moscow on Friday.
"Our president has already promised Xi Jinping to thoroughly inform the Chinese leader about the results of his meeting with U.S. President Trump in Alaska on August 15 and other contacts with the U.S. side, including telephone calls. Of course, the leaders will give an assessment of the current development of the situation surrounding Ukraine," he said.
In addition, the parties will address the most important issues dealing with the Middle East, the upcoming Group of Twenty summit in South Africa, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea. "All of that will be held in the fall, many topics will be discussed [at the talks in China]," Ushakov said.
The Russian president will pay an official visit to China at the Chinese president's invitation. The talks of the two leaders to discuss a wide range of items on the bilateral and international agenda are slated for September 2.
