Russia develops more than 360 standards for oil and gas sector - Energy Ministry
NOVOSIBIRSK. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Russia has developed over 360 new standards to regulate the oil and gas industry, including geological exploration, drilling and production, Deputy Energy Minister of Russia Yevgeny Grabchak said on Wednesday at the Technoprom-2025 forum in Novosibirsk.
"The experience of our colleagues from the oil and gas industry has been instructive - the state had [previously] given them a lot of room for standardization. And they constantly used standards, primarily American standards, in terms of equipment, processes, geological exploration, drilling and other things. When technologies for exploration and drilling became limited, we understood that besides technological advancement, import substitution, reverse engineering and developing competencies, we need to start by implementing unified model standards which we as well as our partner countries would be able to apply," he said.
Grabchak said that the Institute of Oil and Gas Technology Initiatives was working alongside oil and gas companies to develop new standardization principles adapted to Russian companies.
"To date, more than 360 standards have already been developed, above all providing a technological basis for geological exploration, drilling and production operations. This has allowed us to break away from the European and American standards that were imposed on us previously," the deputy minister said.
